The Best Ear Training for Chord Melody
What was the question?
Madhav asked for direction on ear training specifically to help learn chord melody better.

The core idea (in plain English)
The most beneficial ear training happens the moment you pick up your guitar, even before you start your routine. While your guitar is fresh and tuned, use your voice to bridge the gap between your inner ear and the physical fretboard.

Fretboard breakdown (what to play)
Sing First: Sing a random pitch ("Naaa"). Hold it. [01:12:50]
Find it: Try to find that exact note on the guitar.
Chromatic Adjustment: If you miss, do not jump around randomly. If your sung note is lower than what you played, slide down chromatically until you match it. If higher, slide up. [01:12:50]
Expand: Once you find the note, sing a second note and find that. Build a small melody.
Common mistake to avoid
Do not "hunt and peck" by jumping strings or frets randomly. You will never learn the distance that way. By sliding chromatically to the pitch, you teach your brain the physical distance of the interval. [01:12:50]
A 10-minute practice assignment
Do this every day as a warm-up. Sing a note, find it. Sing another note, find it. Spend 5 minutes just matching your voice to the fretboard without looking at a tuner or sheet music. [01:14:21]
