Hi, I’m Junewon, JC, Choi.

Jazz guitar has been my lifelong passion, and teaching it has become my mission.

Like many guitarists, I once struggled with endless chord shapes, disconnected scale patterns, and the feeling that the instrument was a puzzle I could never solve—until I studied with Richie Hart at Berklee College of Music.

He showed me how to see the guitar as a complete system: logical, natural, and a doorway to freedom in improvisation. That approach changed everything.

After Berklee, I continued my studies at Michigan State University and the University of Southern California, and I found the same method still worked—not just for me, but for my students as well. What I learned became the foundation of VoiceLid Jazz Guitar, an approach designed to help players break free from the scale-box mindset and unlock their authentic voice.

My Approach

I don’t just want to teach you more patterns or licks. My goal is to help you think like a musician, develop your own voice, and play with the kind of confidence that makes guitar fun again.

Through VoiceLid Jazz Guitar’s online programs, you’ll gain the tools and structure to finally understand the fretboard. And if you want deeper guidance, you can book a Free Trial Lesson—a 30-minute one-on-one session where we explore your goals and experience the Online Lesson program firsthand.

If you’ve ever felt stuck or held back in your playing, you’re not alone—I’ve been there too. With the right perspective, the guitar becomes not just playable, but inspiring. That’s the journey I’d love to share with you.
